History of Shave Ice

Shave Ice Traces its History to Japan, where it is known as Kakigōri. After the Japanese Immigrated to Hawaii they brought their Traditional Dessert with them.  Shaving from Large Blocks of Ice using Japanese Swords which were Typically Family Heirlooms. Although it can Resemble a Snow Cone it is not. Shave Ice is Literally Shaved from a Block of Ice and Appears Snow Like. This Texture Allows the Syrups to be Absorbed by the Ice, rather than Simply Surrounding it, therefore Shave Ice is Served with a Spoon. It is Truly Light, Fluffy and Delicious.
